We’re excited to introduce a new Early Access feature that is now available to TypeRacer Ultimate subscribers. Upgrading your account gives you access to this feature along with all other early access perks! You also support TypeRacer to keep us going for as long as we can, for the love of competitive typing!

If you have spent time racing on TypeRacer, you may have noticed that many of the texts on the site were originally submitted by racers. For years we reviewed these submissions manually and added selected texts to the main site in batches, making them available for everyone to race.

Over time we heard from many racers who wanted more flexibility. Some wanted to practice using their own texts. Others wanted to create texts designed specifically for their friends. To support these needs, we created a new Sandbox environment along with tools that allow racers to build their own typing texts whenever they want!

Custom texts are not available in multiplayer rooms yet. However, you can share a link to your custom text and race it in a ghost match against Typee, our bot opponent. You can also save a race on your custom text and share your personal ghost link so friends can race against you instead of Typee. This gives racers a simple way to compare speeds, challenge each other, and test new texts together.

Saving a race score on a custom text currently requires an upgraded account at the TypeRacer Core tier or higher, since the system builds on our existing ghost race saving infrastructure. We plan to expand these capabilities as the feature continues to develop.

New Features

Create Your Own Custom Texts

Starting today, Ultimate members can write and publish their own typing texts, perfect for personal practice or for sharing with friends. Once created, anyone with the link can race on your custom text, even if they’re not an Ultimate subscriber.

For players: Saving a race score on a custom text currently requires an upgraded account to at least TypeRacer Core, as the system relies on the existing ghost-race saving infrastructure.

Note: If any text is edited, the leaderboards will reset, but the race and score will still be on racers’ profiles.

Text Database

We’ve revamped the Text Database for everyone. Browsing and discovering texts is now faster and more intuitive, with improved filters, better language and category sorting, and more powerful search across both titles and text content.

Note: Custom texts created by Ultimate subscribers will not appear here.
